From the epic family sagas hearkening back to the settlement of Iceland, to the fantastical romances set in exotic and unfamiliar lands, the stories written and read in medieval Iceland are richly varied. This book provides a brief introduction to different types of Icelandic (or, Old Norse) literature, by discussing key texts and considering some of the latest research in the field.
